- Why The Rob Stovel Foundation
We choose to create this Foundation to not only honour the legacy of our dear son, brother and uncle but to commit ourselves to do better and to follow in the path he started. At the Foundation we are dedicated to allocating our funds efficiently and to those causes that truly do empower the best in humanity. In addition, to maximize our support we are steadfast in our approach that all administrative funds are covered privately and not by the Foundation therefore truly supporting our charities with every penny we receive.
- CAUSES WE CARE ABOUT
Inspired by the values that we and Rob held dear, the foundation provides support and funding to institutions that give opportunity to those who may be facing obstacles in life. The causes that we hold near and dear in our hearts are promoting AIDS support and research, providing financial support for children with terminal illness, and supporting efforts to provide a safe environment to grow up for children who have suffered abuse. These two main charitable organizations are aligned with our vision and values and we proud to support today.

The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR)
The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR) was founded in 1987 and their mission is to end HIV in Canada by funding innovative research, dynamic partnerships, and national awareness programs.
There are over 63,000 people in Canada living with HIV and it is estimated that six people in Canada become newly infected with HIV each day. CANFAR strives to change this. Over its 30-year history, CANFAR has invested more than $21 million and awarded more than 400 grants to HIV and AIDS research projects that have led to tremendous breakthroughs in HIV prevention, testing, access to treatment, stigma and the search for a cure.
Rob was diagnosed with AIDS in the mid 1980s. From that moment on, he became a strong advocate for AIDS research and tackling the stigma around the disease. Rob was a very active voice in the community and built a large support network for others who were diagnosed and needed better access to resources, both in treatment and support.
The Tremblant Foundation
The Tremblant Foundation’s main objective is to help underprivileged children of the MRC des Laurentides territory to attain a better quality of life and develop their full potential in the areas of sports, education, and arts and culture.
Our family has been active within the Laurentides community for years and have always shown our support however we can. We take particular interest in backing organizations that look to provide a better outcome for children. Our family has witnessed how sports, education, and arts and culture can bring a great deal of structure and joy to a child’s life. Because of this, we continue to support the Tremblant Foundation and their work with children within our local communities.
